The association, Camille Lepage – On est ensemble, was founded on September 20, 2014, a few months after Camille Lepage’s death while reporting in the Central African Republic. The association commemorates Camille’s life, her commitment and her work.

Since 2016, SAIF, the collecting society La Saif has funded the award to support the work of a photojournalist committed to a long-term project.
