Drug trafficking has increased significantly in Iraq in recent years. The two main drugs are Captagon, produced in Syria, and methamphetamine, which, according to Iraqi authorities, comes from laboratories in Iran. These drugs are mainly distributed and sold in poor neighborhoods of large cities and in the southern regions of the country. The Iraqi authorities have taken drastic measures to combat their proliferation.
