About the exhibition

This is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity in the coming years. According to the United Nations, by 2050, two out of three people will live in urban areas. That is twice the current figure, representing an additional 2.5 billion people. This rapid urbanization, at a pace unprecedented in history, is concentrated in cities in the Global South: in Africa, where the population is expected to increase by 91% in 25 years, reaching 2.6 billion inhabitants in 2050, but also in Asia and South America, where it will rise from 2 billion to 4 billion. This exhibition highlights the challenges of this exponential growth in three of these megacities.
