La Bourse Canon du documentaire vidéo court-métrage est destinée à encourager un vidéaste et/ou photographe par l’attribution d’une bourse de 8 000 euros dotée par Canon ainsi que par le prêt d’un équipement vidéo professionnel. Elle permettra au lauréat 2026, Axel Javier Sulzbacher, de financer son projet « Before being a Child » sur les familles qui se tournent vers les Guerreros Aztecas, une milice de jeunes où des enfants dès l’âge de 6 ans suivent un entraînement de type militaire pour résister aux enlèvements et au chantage au Mexique dans l’État du Michoacán. We are pleased to be presenting the Canon Video Grant for a short film documentary. The recipient will be awarded a grant of €8,000 from Canon plus the use of pioneering Canon professional video equipment to be made available on loan.
The 2026 grant winner, Axel Javier Sulzbacher, will receive €8,000, in addition to a loan of pioneering Canon professional video equipment, for his project “Before Being a Child”. This project looks at families faced with the brutality of cartels who turn to the Guerreros Azteca, a youth militia where children as young as six undergo military-style training to withstand kidnappings and extortion in Michoacán, Mexico.His documentary will be screened at the 2027 edition of the festival.
